Director of Project Management

Essential Functions:

The Director of Project Management has the overall responsibility for the development, guidance, and functions for all project management activities for Trident Automation. The Director will deliver leadership in all areas including the planning, organization, evaluation, and development of multiple projects for the company.  The Director of Project Management will also provide strategic direction for the successful implementation for all projects. 

Responsibilities:

  • Uses strong technical skills to lead and manage project(s) and project team members from beginning to end.  Participates in multiple/concurrent projects involving automation controls design and implementation for variety of industries. Has direct supervisory responsibility for project manager and project coordinator and indirect supervisory responsibility of engineer(s) and/or technician(s) assigned to a project.
  • Designs and implements Trident’s project management model to include all processes to assure successful management of work and project for Trident’s customers.  Model will include quality measurements and milestones.
  • Assess priority of new projects with input from ownership to ensure appropriate staffing, and that projects are consistent with Trident’s objectives.  Provides input on feasibility, cost, schedules, testing, capabilities, resource availability, and contractual obligations for proposal development to ensure competitive estimates to customer. Works with customer to modify plans and/or scope of work as appropriate.
  • Serves as the customer’s primary point of contact and manages customer expectations in regards to project team performance, deliverables, and schedule to ensure successful projects and customer satisfaction. Responsible for providing the customer with status reports with regard to schedule, budget, and risk issues.
  • Process Improvement – Assists the Principals by providing project management team leadership to positively affect the quality and consistency of the project management job process.
  • Actively supports a culture of efficiency and cost control.  Manages projects to successful financial execution. Uses appropriate business systems to accurately project revenue for both active projects.  Responsible for creation of and adherence to project budgets and schedules.
  • Effectively manages the department and engineering team resources and leads the program to a successful execution. This includes partnering with the engineering team to identify solutions to meet the customer’smneeds, while partnering with, supply chain, and third party suppliers to ensure the projects  are successfully implemented at customers’ plant sites.
  • Coaching and leading the project management and engineering teams. Provide feedback on performance and career development needs.  Identifies opportunities to formally and informally mentor new and existing engineers and technicians.
  • Occasional travel may be required to meet the needs of the business (<25%).

Education and Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or other relevant engineering degree.  A minimum of seven (7) years industry experience, including three (3) years of project management experience is required for this position.  Project Management certification is a plus. Must be able to provide proof of American Citizenship, or able to legally work in the USA without sponsorship.

Controls Engineer

The ideal candidate must have knowledge of process manufacturing field instrumentation, technology and batch process manufacturing expertise in all of the following project phases: requirements documentation, detailed design generation, implementation, system integration, testing and on-site startup. This position demands a team player approach to project execution.

Daily responsibilities include solutions implementation and support of the project team objectives. This position may provide technical direction or leadership on a project basis for one to ten process control engineers. Individual will plan and coordinate technical design and engineering implementation of project work. Individual will Identifiy the technologies to be used for new applications, and extensions of current architectures. 

Skills: Aplicants should have skills in requirements gathering, design, configuration, integration and implementation of process control solutions for the manufacturing industry including batch software, PLC / DCS systems, HMI packages, SCADA systems, Visual Basic and PC networking technology. 

Educational background: Minimum of a BS in electrical engineering or other relevant engineering program is required.
